I was blown away by this park. The playground has something for everyone and it kept all the kids in our group ( aged 1-12) happy and occupied. The kids especially loved the big slide and my friend's kids remembered to bring towels for a smoother ride. The zoo itself is pretty amazing. The selection of animals is quite varied, cages are well labelled, with a bit of information about each animal. The touch table manned by a teenage volunteer was equally informative. Incredible for a zoo that does not charge admission. The size is perfect for little feet to not get too tired. All of us enjoyed the 10 minute train ride and we were happy to end our day cooling off at the splash pad.
This is a very nice place to take young children. They don't have a lot of animals but the ones they do have are interesting. They have ample parking and you can purchase drinks, ice cream, etc. There are several play places for kids with slides and swings and a bonus splash pad. There is also a very cute little train ride which is quite reasonably priced at two dollars a person. Best part entrance to the zoo is free!
Great fun and basic park. There is a small variety of animals both local and lots international. Kids seem to love the river otter when it can be viewed. The day we visited the sloth seemed to want a photo shoot. There is also a cute little food stand if you want a snack. Remember to bring cash for that! Splash pad has change rooms/bathrooms available. Oddly enough there is a cool water bottle refill station.
Always a fun filled afternoon following my three daughters around checking out all the animals. They are full of questions for the people feeding the animals. The selection of animals is not extensive but it makes sense for the small size of the zoo. Just make sure you take the time to get to experience the train. Yes, there is usually a line up but little ones really love the trip. It is neat seeing places you would not be allowed to go otherwise.
Fantastic, can not believe that it's free. You can make a donation throughout the park,( l did), it's such a beautiful space. Kid's play area's and information center are the best. And a small train station and ride, best $2.00 l ever spent.Places like Ottawa, our Nation's Capital can't even offer to you something like this.Go out and enjoy, bring your lunch and make a day out of the Zoo.
